Let’s be honest. I love a good shopping opportunity. One of my favorite areas is the beauty aisle. I am amazed at all the products that fill the shelves all claiming to do one thing or another. That’s great…for your outside reflection. But what about inside…the deep place no one visibly sees but can feel just by being in your presence? How beautiful are you on the inside? Now that’s a question I haven’t heard many people ask. Inside beauty is illuminated through your actions, words spoken, feelings displayed. We all know about putting that facade on in the presence of the opposite sex, trying to portray a beauty that can be seen. But is it also skin deep? Is it real or just magic mirrors meant to disguise some internal ugliness? Here’s something I have learned over time. The ugly will show its face eventually. It’s voice speaks volumes above the outward beauty because slowly over time it changes what people actually see when they look at you. Are you kind to others? Perhaps you are egocentric, unfair, biased and just down right mean. I can understand why you might want to keep that undercover…but think of the work it takes to maintain your cover. If people are eventually going to find out who you really are, doesn’t it make sense to work on those deficits and project an authentic you? A pretty face is wonderful but it can not compete with a beautiful heart. None of us are perfect…I know you’ve heard that tons of times. That’s because it is TRUE! Just work on being the best you can and your beauty will fill a room and turn heads for all the right reasons. My precious Sistahs….start first believing in yourself. Look deeper than that mirror. Listen to your soul. It will tell you where you need to improve. But more importantly, it will tell you where your beauty lives….deep inside the essence of you! Here’s a small challenge for the month. Compliment a Sistah. Not on the physical but on her attributes that makes her beauty visible. I promise you it will make her day and it will empower you. It’s all about Sistah support. We can do this….if we work together.
